Team Mambo to announce the 2.0 release of MOStlyCE and MOStlyCE Admin. While MOStlyCE 2.0 will not be included in the Mambo core until the release of version 4.6.2, we've made the Component and Mambot available now as a download from The Source which can be installed via the new Add-On installer built into Mambo 4.6.

The 2.0 release brings with it a new image / file manager plugin. This new functionality comes via integration with the TinyMCPUK project. The plugin is disabled by default, but can be enabled with a few minor steps. See the Image Manager tab in the MOStlyCE Admin for more details on the setup. The new plugin has been test with Firefox and IE6. It is not recommend for use with Opera or Safari at this time.

The TinyMCE core has been upgraded to latest TinyMCE 2.0.8 release. This upgrade corrects a number of issues found with Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2.0. The TinyMCE 2.0.8 upgrade also brings a new media plugin. This replaces the generic flash media plugin found in former releases. The new media plugin supports Flash, Shockwave, Quicktime, Windows Media, and RealMedia files.

Along with the changes mentioned above the TinyMCE compressor has also been upgraded to the latest version (1.0.9). In past releases IE users have been unable to take advantage of the compressor, but hopefully this update takes care of that. I have done some basic testing with IE6 and the compressor seems to be working just fine now. In the past it caused javascript errors and/or crashes of the browser. I have not removed the warning about using it with IE yet. I'll wait to gather feedback from the community before doing so. So test it out. If it works properly you can take advantage of the reduced overhead which TinyMCE states is about 75%.

Upgrade Tips:

• MOStlyCE v2.0 is only for Mambo 4.6+ users
• If you are upgrading from an older version of MOStlyCE it is recommended you first disable MOStlyCE in your global config, then uninstall the MOStlyCE mambot, and finally uninstall the MOStlyCE Admin component. Now install the new mambot and then the new component. Lastly check to make sure it has been re-enabled in your global config and if not then enable it manually.
