Overview of the Mambo Foundation, IncThe Mambo Foundation is a non-profit corporation formed in August 2005 to serve as a supporting organisation for the Mambo Open Source Project. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide support and protection for the development of the Mambo software system, ensuring its longevity as an open source, volunteer project. The Foundation provides organisational, legal and financial support for the Mambo project. Membership is open to anyone who has demonstrated a commitment to Mambo, inclination to participate and the willingness to stay informed on matters related to the governance of the project and management of our not-for-profit Foundation. Members may run for election to the Board of Directors, vote in the elections for the Board of Directors, and suggest items for consideration by the Board. The Foundation Board of Directors is appointed through nomination and election by the membership each year. While you don't have to be a member to be part of the community, to develop modules, components or templates, or to download and use the code, you do have to be a member to participate in governing the project. Members of the Mambo Foundation hold many different organisational and technical roles with the Mambo project. The day-to-day management of the project itself is handled by the Mambo Steering Committee, which is made up of the Project Leader plus all project Team Leaders.
